Werewolves Within is a very funny, humour-filled low-budget American comedy suspense film that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021.
About Werewolves Within
There is a game called Werewolf, in which every night villagers are “murdered” and the townspeople must gather to find out who is responsible, and this game is sometimes also known as Mafia. Ubisoft created a similar virtual reality game called Wolves Within. The American movie Werewolves Within is based on this game.
The story takes place in a small town where a snowstorm has trapped a group of residents at a local hotel. A ranger new to town is immediately drawn into a heart-stopping murder mystery as he must find out who or what is on a killing spree. The town is full of dramatic secrets, which he discovers while hunting down what everyone believes to be werewolves.
Werewolves Within boasts a strong cast that has starred In comedies like What We Do In The Shadows, Crashing and Easy. Each of them played an important role in the film and did a great job on screen. There’s a chemistry between them that makes the audience laugh, but also has them on the edge of their seats wondering who the killer is.
Werewolves Within Review
Hardcore horror fans may be disappointed by the lack of blood, but for those who like to be laughed at, this will be a good movie. If the film tries to be completely serious, it will never work. But the truth is, it’s self-deprecating, silly plot time and time again to let the audience really enjoy it for what it is. This is a funny suspense movie.
Josh Ruben’s Werewolves Within draws inspiration from games, updating the setting from the Middle Ages to the present while offering an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery in which everyone is a suspect. “Murder on The Orient Express” or “Knives Out” presents a group of strange and potentially guilty characters. Although Mishna Wolff’s screenplay fails to make the Little Residents memorable enough, the types of residents are wide ranging, including a striking gay couple and a strange shopkeeper (Michaela Watkins) who talks to dogs in baby speak.
Viewers are bound to point fingers at each actor and try to guess which villager is a werewolf. The humor is superb and Sam Richardson is excellent as the film’s main character. Having said that, each actor brings something important to the table, and this is a very well-coordinated film.
What Werewolves Within Isn’t Enough: The movie is cheesy, but it’s doomed to be because there’s a lot of comedy in it, which doesn’t detract from its overall feel. While the plot is a bit predictable, some of the twists and turns will shock viewers. It could have been better, but for a low-budget movie, it did well.
At the end of the movie Werewolves Within, there was a choice of costumes and makeup that could have been better. We won’t go into detail to avoid giving away the plot, but when you watch the movie, you’ll know what we’re talking about.
Conclusion
Werewolves Within is a good classic mystery film with a funny plot. Plus a very interesting cast, making it a must-see movie! The last line of the movie is perfect and sure to bring some laughs.
